WHO CAN RENT AND WHO CAN DRIVE?
Who Can Rent?
Anyone who:
- Is legally capable of entering into a contract with YOR CAR Hire and willing to assume responsibility for the vehicle during the rental period.
- Has the means accepted by YOR CAR Hire to pay for the vehicle rental and any associated costs.
- Possesses valid identification documents, as indicated below.
Required Documents:
- Physical Driving Licence
- Passport or EU Identity Card
- Bank Credit/Debit Card (Visa or MasterCard)
Who Can Drive?
Drivers must:
- Be between 25 and 80 years of age (drivers aged between 22 and 24 are subject to additional charges).
- Be expressly and fully identified in the Rental Agreement or any attached document (which may also be the lessee).
- Possess a valid driver's licence issued at least three years before the start date of the rental period.
- Have valid identification documents (national ID or passport).
ONLINE RESERVATIONS
Main Steps to Make an Online Booking:
Selection of the Service Enter your rental criteria in the online booking form, including rental dates, locations, and vehicle choice.
YOR CAR Hire Offer Based on your criteria, YOR CAR Hire will present several offers matching your request. An offer includes:
- A service with a selected vehicle category available for your chosen duration and any selected options.
- A pay-on-arrival rate.
Acceptance of the Offer You can add extras or additional protections by selecting the desired items. The cost of each selected item will be added to your rental's final price.
Confirmation Click the "Confirm your booking" button to temporarily reserve the selected offer.
YOR CAR Hire Notification YOR CAR Hire will send a booking confirmation email containing full details of your booking and a copy of the terms and conditions applicable in your rental country. We recommend printing this email for your records.
LONG-TERM RESERVATIONS
Due to legal restrictions, we cannot issue rental contracts longer than 30 days. Therefore, we will divide your reservation into 30-day periods, each corresponding to a rental contract covering your entire booking duration.
Please Note:
- At the end of each contract period, you must visit our office in Alvor or at Faro Airport to sign a new rental contract, pay for it, and provide the respective credit card security deposit.
- Our prices may vary depending on the dates. The price for each period may not be proportional to the total price, but the sum of all periods will match your original booking's total price and will be final.
RENTAL RATES
Our quotes and rates include:
- Unlimited mileage within Portugal.
- All applicable taxes and additional charges based on your booking specifications.
- Civil liability insurance.
- Partial collision and damage coverage (Collision Damage Waiver - CDW).
- Theft coverage (Theft Waiver - TW).
- A specified liability for damages (deductible or excess).
The deductible, disclosed during the reservation process, is the maximum amount you are accountable for in case of damage or theft, provided all Rental Terms and Conditions are adhered to.
No mandatory hidden fees. All quotes are presented in Euros (€) unless stated otherwise.
PAYMENT AND DEPOSITS
Payment
YOR CAR Hire does not accept American Express, virtual cards, prepaid cards, foreign currency, or cheques.
Accepted methods of payment:
- Credit/Debit Card (Visa or MasterCard) in the name of the main driver.
- Cash (Euro).
Deposit
A security deposit (credit authorization) will be requested in the amount of the "Damage Liability" on the main driver's credit card. This authorisation remains valid until the end of the rental.
By agreeing to these Terms and Conditions, you agree to provide a security deposit to ensure compliance with contractual obligations.

Use of the Deposit: Held during the rental period. May be utilized in cases of contractual breaches, damage, or any violations resulting in harm to YOR CAR Hire.
Refund of the Security Deposit: Refunded upon contract completion, provided all obligations are fulfilled. Processed within 10 to 14 working days after inspection and verification. No refunds on car rental days, fuel, or ETOLL service.
INSURANCE
In addition to compulsory third-party insurance, we provide collision damage waiver (CDW) and theft coverage (TW).
Optional Collision Insurance Zero Excess (SCDW) – Waiver of the Excess:
- Groups A, B, C – €10/day (reduces deposit to €550)
- Groups C2, D, E, F, G, L, N, O – €15/day (reduces deposit to €950)
- Other Groups – €20/day (reduces deposit to €2,000)
Optional Full Coverage: Collision Insurance Zero Excess (SCDW) and Theft Coverage (SPI):
- Groups A, B, C – €16/day (reduces deposit to €350)
- Groups C2, D, E, F, G, L, N, O – €21/day (reduces deposit to €550)
- Other Groups – €26/day (reduces deposit to €950)
Regular Insurance Package (without SCDW and SPI) Includes:
- Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) with an excess waiver.
- Theft Liability Coverage with an excess waiver.
- Third-Party Liability (PAI) Coverage with an excess waiver.
Regular Insurance Package Does Not Cover:
- Damages to the vehicle's exterior body and interior (covered only with SCDW).
- Damages to wheels, tyres, windows, and locks (covered only with SPI).
Full Coverage Package (including SCDW and SPI) Does Not Cover:
- Damages to the interior of the vehicle.
- Vehicle documents (DUA and Insurance).
- Registration plates.
- Damages to the underside or roof due to negligent or off-road use.
- Damages from deliberate violation of the rental agreement or gross negligence.
- Accidents that are caused by speeding or driving on the wrong side of the road.
- Accidents not involving another vehicle or due to driver negligence (e.g., parking accidents, driving into water).
- Damages while under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or other substances.
- Damages caused by mobile phone use.
- Damages to the car that are not supported by the respective police report.
- Loss or damage of the car key (contact us for procedures).
- Burned clutch.
- On rollovers or total loss damages, an administration fee will be charged even if the purchased insurance package includes SCDW and SPI.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT?
Driver's Obligations:
Contact Authorities Immediately (Police Phone Number: 112):
- Notify local law enforcement.
- Ensure a police report is filed.
Secure the Accident Scene:
- Ensure safety.
- Use appropriate signalling.
- Move vehicles to a safe area if possible.
Assist Victims:
- Assist injured parties.
- Seek medical help immediately if necessary.
Provide Police Report and Proof of No Negligence:
- Submit the original police report (Auto de Ocorrência/Police Report) to us.
- This serves as proof that the accident was not due to your negligence.
Communicate with YOR CAR Hire:
- Notify us as soon as possible.
- Provide all relevant details and documentation.
Responsibility for Repairs and Costs:
- You are responsible for damages and repair costs if the accident wasn't caused by third parties, as per the insurance contract.
YOR CAR Hire's Obligations: We will inform you in advance if your deposit is activated for damages, providing proof and the damage value.
FUEL POLICY
Like-for-Like Fuel Policy:
Receive the vehicle with a specified fuel level and return it with the same fuel level. If returned with less fuel, additional fees apply.

WHERE CAN I DRIVE MY VEHICLE?
- Permitted Area: Mainland Portugal only (excluding Madeira and Azores).
- Not Permitted: Taking the car on boats or ferries.
- Cross Border to Spain: Allowed up to Seville (max 150 km from Vila Real de Santo António) with additional fee and authorization. It is not possible to go further into Spain.
- Unauthorized Areas: Strictly prohibited. Violations may incur penalties and additional fees.
- Unauthorized Travel Consequences: The vehicle will be uninsured; all damages are your responsibility.

HOW TO COLLECT YOUR CAR (FARO AIRPORT – FAO)
Finding Us:
Locate our representative at Car Park 4 – Meeting Point Office P4, YOR CAR Hire desk. From the terminal, continue to the end of the building; Car Park 4 is across the road (150 metres). If using a trolley, follow the road to your right around the car park's edge.

HOW TO RETURN YOUR VEHICLE
Return Location:
Return the vehicle to the designated location agreed upon at reservation or pick-up.
Documentation Required:
- Vehicle keys.
- Vehicle documents (DUA and insurance).
- Any damage or incident documentation (police report).
Vehicle Condition:
Must be returned in the same condition as received, allowing for normal wear and tear. Excessive dirtiness may incur a cleaning fee. New damages are your responsibility, subject to coverage terms and applicable deductible.
Delays in Return:
Notify us in advance of any delays. We will attempt to accommodate changes, subject to availability. Unreported delays may incur additional fees.
OUT OF HOURS
- Pick-Up After Hours (20:01–23:59): Subject to an Out of Hours Fee.
- Drop-Off After Hours (20:01–08:30): Subject to an Out of Hours Fee.
ETOLL
- Electronic Toll Roads: Portuguese highways have electronic tolls.
- ETOLL Service Activation: Only possible at rental start; costs €2.15/day (max €21 per rental).
- Customer Responsibility: You are responsible for all toll charges during the rental period.
- Non-Activation Consequences: Using tolls without activation results in a €30 administrative fee plus toll charges.
PERSONAL DATA
In compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Data Collection: Your personal data and those of additional drivers are required for identification and rental purposes.
- Location Data Collection: Our cars are equipped with a GPS unit that tracks the car’s location, for security purposes.
- Data Processing: The lessor is responsible for processing your data to execute the rental agreement.
- Legal Compliance: Data may be transmitted to third parties to comply with legal obligations (e.g., authorities, regulatory bodies).
- Consent: Data may be processed for other purposes with your explicit consent.
- Data Retention: Data is retained as necessary for services, billing, and legal obligations.
- Your Rights: You may access, modify, object to processing, withdraw consent, request erasure, and exercise other legal rights.
- Withdrawal of Consent: This does not affect the legality of prior processing.
- Data Breach Notification: You will be notified of any high-risk breaches affecting your data.
- Third-Party Services: Data may be shared with service providers involved in rental contracts.
GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Object
YOR CAR Hire – Powered by Auto Rent VI (hereinafter "the lessor") rents to the customer (hereinafter "the lessee") the vehicle described in the rental agreement under the following terms and conditions.
Delivery and Return of Vehicle
- Condition Upon Receipt: The vehicle must be returned in proper condition with accessories and documents.
- Return Condition: Must be returned in the same condition at the agreed location and date.
- Contract Violation: The Lessor may terminate the contract and retrieve the vehicle at the lessee's expense.
- Extension: Lessee must visit the lessor's premises to sign a new contract, subject to approval.
- Liability: Lessor is not liable for loss or damage to property left in the vehicle.
Vehicle Use
Prohibited Uses:
- Transporting passengers or goods illegally or for paid services without permission (Uber, taxis, transfers, travel packages or any kind of similar services).
- Participation in sporting events or training.
- By individuals under the influence of substances impairing abilities.
- By unlicensed or unauthorized drivers.
- Outside Portugal without permission.
- Displaying advertisements, whether political, commercial, or similar, without written consent.
Vehicle Care: Lessee must lock and secure the vehicle, use proper fuel, and operate security devices diligently.
Cleaning Fee: Excessive dirtiness may result in a professional cleaning fee (€35–€99).
Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
Repairs: Only with prior arrangement with the lessor.
Services
Available Coverages:
- CDW: Covers damages in an accident, subject to excess.
- Super CDW: Covers all damages (except tyres, locks, windows) and theft; reduces or eliminates excess.
- PAI: Personal accident insurance for passengers (excludes driver). It offers coverage to eventual hospital expenses for the passengers: up to €1,500 in case of illness or hospitalization and €15,000 in case of death or disability.
- SPI: Theft insurance covering tyres, locks, windows/plastics; no excess.
- PERSA: Covers key loss, tyre changes, battery issues, and towing whenever there are fuel issues.
In Case of Accident:
- Inform the lessor and police (112) within 24 hours.
- Obtain details of involved parties and witnesses.
- Protect and safeguard the vehicle.
- Do not admit liability.
- Provide a detailed accident report to the lessor issued by the Portuguese Police.
Coverage Limitations:
- Only lessee and authorized drivers benefit from coverages.
- Misuse of the vehicle is the lessee's responsibility, even with Super CDW.
- Damages due to speeding, negligence, or substance influence are the lessee's responsibility.
- Burned clutches are not covered.
Payments
Obligations:
- Rental price is based on period and mileage.
- Costs for coverages for the services selected.
- Applicable taxes and fees.
- Additional costs (damages, tolls, fines, fuel discrepancies).
- Interest on overdue invoices at the maximum legal rate.
Accident Charge: Flat fee of €350 plus VAT for repair processing.
Security Deposit: Authorises lessor to charge the credit card for due amounts.
Administrative Fees
Should the lessor be notified as a result of an offence or unlawful conduct committed by the lessee, to uniquely identify the same, the lessee is obliged to pay an administrative fee of €25 plus VAT, by information provided to those entities.
Agreed Domicile
Contact addresses: Parties agree to use the addresses provided in the contract for notifications.
Acknowledgement: Lessee confirms receipt and understanding of all contract
clauses and documents.
Personal Data and Security/Privacy Policy (GDPR)
According to Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 (General Data Protection Regulation - GDPR), the lessee has read and agrees to the general car rental conditions as signed in the rental agreement.
The lessee must provide personal information for identification purposes, expressly authorising the lessor, YOR CAR Hire – Auto Rent VI Lda., to process this data.
- The lessor is the entity responsible for the processing of personal data supplied under the contract.
- In accordance with point (c) of Article 6 of the GDPR, personal data may be transmitted to third parties whenever it is necessary to ensure compliance with legal obligations, including judicial authorities, criminal police bodies, tax and customs authorities, and regulatory entities.
- Personal data may only be processed for other purposes with the data subject's explicit consent to the lessor.
- The lessor maintains reasonable physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect your personally identifiable data from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction, for the necessary period required for providing services, invoicing, and fulfilling legal obligations. As part of these precautions, we employ technologies designed to safeguard your data. Access to your personally identifiable data is restricted to employees who need to know that information to provide services to you and our licensees.
- The lessee has the right at all times to access data within the limits of the contract and the GDPR; to modify and oppose the respective data processing; to decide on automated data processing; to withdraw consent; to request that their data be deleted; and to exercise their personal rights under current legislation.
- In case of withdrawal of consent, the legitimacy of data processing carried out prior to the date of withdrawal is not affected.
- Under the GDPR, the data subject has the right to be notified if a breach of their personal data is likely to result in a high risk to their rights and freedoms.
- Personal data may be transmitted to partner companies providing services to the lessor whenever such services involve communication of data contained in the rental agreement.
DISCLAIMER
YOR CAR Hire – Powered by Auto Rent VI reserves the right to alter or change the terms and conditions on our website, in confirmation emails, or regarding cancellations, without prior notice.
Therefore, under no circumstances shall YOR CAR Hire – Powered by Auto Rent VI, nor its officers, directors, or employees, be liable to the contracting party for any amounts, actions, lawsuits, or claims related to any direct, indirect, consequential, or punitive damages (such as loss of business or loss of profit) arising out of or in connection with the rental or use of any vehicle, whether the action is based on contract or tort. The contracting party agrees to indemnify and hold YOR CAR Hire – Powered by Auto Rent VI harmless from all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, or expenses arising out of the rental and/or use of the vehicle.
